The Game Development World Championship (GDWC) 2021 Awards are coming soon, offering a couple of days of great games and interesting talks from industry professionals.
From March 15-17, the show will offer an array of gameplay demonstrations and developer commentaries about the finalists that have reached this level of the competition (The competition ran throughout the entire year of 2021, and submission was free). These demonstrations will be on the first two days (starting at 12:00/12pm GMT+2), and there will also be online booths where aspiring developers and curious players can learn a variety of things from industry folks. On the final night is the award ceremony itself (starting at 18:00/6pm GMT+2), where viewers will get to see who won the competition overall. It should make for a fantastic celebration of indie games and the people who make them, and since it costs nothing to attend, it seems pretty hard to pass up.
For anyone who’s interested in submitting for the event in the future, the GDWC is open to all levels of game developer, from professionals to hobbyists to game jam creators (see the rules for 2021 here). Seeing as it’s a fantastic way to get your game some global exposure without spending a dime, it seems like a pretty great opportunity for developers of all skill levels. Might want to start thinking about it if you’re releasing a game in 2022.
NOTE: Indie Games Plus is currently running an ad campaign for the Game Development World Championship. This as was donated by the site as we feel that providing indie developers with a free competition to take part in is a great chance to show their games to a broad audience without any extra costs, so we wanted to support this competition. It has in no way affected our decision to cover the competition.
