Infernax will often leave you a bloody smear if you aren’t careful. Not that this should make you lax in your decisions, as the things you do really matter in the gory world.
The land of Upel has seen better days. Lately, unholy magic has made things a lot more stomach-churning than they used to be. Massive monsters with their guts leaking out wander about. Demons decorate their bodies with impaled corpses. Eyes seeming to be growing out of everything. It’s become a terrible place to return to for our knight character. To purge this nasty magic, you’ll have to clobber your way across the land, growing your character in whatever way you feel best helps you survive all of this mess.
Survival won’t be easy. Everything here aims to cut you up, mash you, or carve you up, and they’re going to make a big, sickening show of it. Not that you aren’t out to do the same, I guess. Almost nothing here goes down without a shower of organs and gore, so expect an absurd amount of body parts flying around at all times. Try not to be distracted by all of the intestines flying around, as the game’s story can be shaped by many of the things you do. You’ve come to SAVE the land, and while the way to do that often seems to be to turn to violence, you may want to consider if another path is opening. It’s deeply satisfying to stomp and bludgeon your way across the countryside in this Castlevania-inspired adventure, but is that always the solution?
Infernax is a solid throwback to horror action games, offers some fun tools and customization to shape your journey, and showcases many impressive monsters (assuming your tolerance for pixel gore is high).
Infernax is available now on the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam.
