ABRISS – build to destroy reminds me that there is tons of enjoyment to be found in knocking big things over with high explosives and heavy impacts.
This physics-based destruction game gives you an array of parts that you can cobble together into devastating objects. You then take these and crash them into large, intricate structures to break them apart in specific ways. Not that smashing into a building is the only way to do it. The game gives you explosive pieces, thrusters to send things flying into one another, lasers for carving things up, and many more things that alter the way you break stuff. Separate stages give you specific tools to use, but as you progress, you’ll get more stuff that will let you get more and more creative about your devastation.
While it can be very satisfying to see your odd contraption tear through a building, or to see how few moves or tools you need to bring a whole building down, I’d argue that simply watching the chaos unfold is the most satisfying part of the game. The game’s destruction is incredibly intricate, busting buildings down into hundreds of tiny pieces depending on how and where you hit it. Each explosion or hit causes some incredible damage with bits hurtling in all directions (and all without making my computer flip out), so it’s a constant joy to watch these structures tumble. Or maybe I spend too much time watching my kids knock over block towers these days.
ABRISS – build to destroy will keep you invested with its creative destructive tools and complex situations, and will keep you in your seat for the show that comes as you watch your well-crafted demolition. If you like to break stuff, it’s one of the most stunning visions of smashing things out there.
ABRISS – build to destroy is available now on Steam Early Access.
