Screaming Loaf has you helping a bunch of bread stop food from turning it into a sandwich. By shouting really loud. Have you ever startled jam to death before?
If you are looking for a wacky puzzle platformer, Screaming Loaf is something unlike anything I have ever seen. I had stumbled upon this game at Insomnia, where I found that I could become a huge loaf of bread that screams at things to destroy them! I thought this was a super funny concept, and had to check it out.
This game has you playing as a loaf made of individual slices of bread. You can break yourself into different slices, leaving them behind to solve puzzles! Some can be left to trigger different levers, while others can be put on buttons that then boost other platforms. These slices also act as lives, which need to be monitored so that you can ensure that you do not just die. Around the level, there are also enemies which need to be watched out for.
Enemies come in the forms of other foods moving around the area. They can be screamed at so that they are defeated and fall. Screaming is quite silly looking, but does the job really well. Some levels have other dangers too, like rising water that will instantly kill you, so you will need to be quick and aware of your surroundings. Others have items that you need to scream into to help you, which is interesting to discover.
Screaming Loaf does not have flashy graphics, but it makes up for the visuals with the level design, which provides a lot of fun areas that you can make your way through. If you solve the level fast enough, you will gain more stars, and you can always go back and play a previous level until you pull everything off perfectly and don’t lose any slices. It’s a challenging and fun game.
Screaming Loaf is available now on Google Play and Steam.
