Yes, your mere presence tends to leave folks as dribbling, mindless husks. You still need a place to relax and unwind, though. A place like Cthulhu pub.
Unspeakable horrors and beings beyond time and space could use a nice pub to grab a bite and a drink. This clientele is pretty underserved, so why not start putting together your own place for them? To do that, you’ll have to take pieces of structure and cobble together a few rooms, then furnish them with places to sit and other fixtures for the place. You can build the place largely to be serviceable, but taking the time to add some nice decorations could really liven the place up while you’re at it.
Those steps could be for ANY building simulator, though. What’s unique about one filled with monster patrons? Well, humans keep coming to try to break up the place and defeat your clients. This can really dampen the mood in the place, so you’ll want to hire some defenders to keep the pub safe while your customers relax. Humans aren’t your only worry, though. All of this monstrous hustle and bustle sometimes draws the attention of some truly powerful beings. While they just want to have a good time, too, their mere presence can have destructive effects on the environment. When that happens, you’ll want to keep some funds aside that you can use to rebuild the walls and furniture. Could they just try a bit harder to be careful when they enter the place?
Cthulhu pub is light and playful despite its sanity-draining characters, creating a fun mood as you try to figure out what a cosmic horror would want out of a pub. Needing to protect the place from humans, as well as repair it after run-ins with creatures beyond space, throws some interesting curves at players that make for an involved, charming simulation.
Cthulhu pub is available now on Steam Early Access.
