Roulette Dungeon needs you to carefully bet and win on the spinning wheel if you want to smack monsters and stay alive.
I swear, roguelikes can have any sort of thing smooshed into them to create something new. I was not surprised when I saw a turn-based, roguelike where you need to use a roulette wheel at Devcom. This game has you betting and spinning a roulette wheel in order to fight a bunch of monsters. Even if you roll zero, you will do damage, but the higher the number the more damage you can deal.

Betting can double some of the numbers, although a lot of the changes made to the wheel will be from finding upgrades and changing aspects of the wheel with multipliers. Along with the multipliers, there is a sort of slot-spinning option that you can pay for with chips which allows you to stop the slots to gain health, coins, more damage for your next hit, shields for the rest of your battle, etc. This feature comes in clutch when you are low on health or in a big boss battle! There are even items that slow down the spin of the slot, allowing you to select when it stops more easily. When I played the game, I got an item that made all black numbers double, no matter what, which was already a great start. These sorts of items do stack, which can slowly make you more and more powerful.
The dungeons themselves not only have monsters but also have characters and mini-games, allowing you to purchase items, find coins, and talk to various characters to see what they end up doing to you.
Roulette Dungeon is a very fun twist on the roguelike genre. Plus it doesn’t feel exactly like gambling, especially as there are so many items to end up with, which adds to the fun.
Roulette Dungeon is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can grab a demo or add it to your wishlist on Steam.
