Mycopsychosys: Project Jupiter is mystery game where you play as a young detective working in the middle of a global zombie-like infection.
I played a demo of the game at BCN Game Fest where I got to work towards solving why people have turned into something that needs to be watched, ran from, and sometimes even killed. In your small-ish town, there has been an infectious breakout that has caused a lot of the people to become a very different type of zombies. They are hungry for humans, but are also able to mimic the people they meet, acting very much like every other person, so it’s hard to tell if they are infected or not.

You are with a more experienced detective and have taken refuge in a random house, hoping to survive. The other detective is harsh and hard to work with, but you’ll need any help you can get as you sort through what has happened here. There are a lot of story-based aspects to the game to really dive into the world around you, and the decisions you make change the fate of this tale so you will need to think and react wisely despite having difficulties with the other partner. There are a couple of puzzle aspects, like trying to keep windows boarded up or through conversations where people ask you for help (and you have to figure out if they’re infected mimics).
Mycopsychosys: Project Jupiter feels like a thriller – every decision has so much weight to it. You aren’t a very experienced detective, so it’s challenging to figure out what exactly you are meant to do in specific situations. Over time, you do also unlock the ability to solve different crimes using items you have seen and connecting them to crime scene photos to make deductions about what has happened. It’s an interesting take on a zombie game that feels quite unique and captivating.
Mycopsychosys: Project Jupiter is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
