Nippets: A Hidden Object Game is all about watching people, following their unique stories, solving their problems, and sometimes helping the world.
I’ve always been a bit of a people watcher and I’ve always loved hidden object games, so this game naturally caught my eye. This hidden object game is inspired by the concept of people watching, as you are seeing interactive scenes of people (many of whom are doing their own thing) throughout the seasons. This cozy game doesn’t have a timer, but instead has micro-stories that you can complete by finding objects and returning them to their little moment.

The game itself is simple (as the best cozy games are). You find yourself starting a season, which has a screen overview of a map. At the bottom of the screen there are outlines of the items you should be looking for. When you tap on them, they share a little bit of the story, which acts as a clue on where to find the object or objects.
You see, some of these things require more than one of the same item or a few items to complete the object. Once you have gathered one item out of the lot, you are given a bit more story which continues until the item is whole and you get the final clue on where to put it. Think connecting wooden planks with someone building a bird house, finding the flags for a sand castle, gathering everything that’s needed to build a snowman, and things like that. There’s a lot to find and do! When you complete a task, you are also give the little bit of the end of the story.
Nippets has more than just the screen you see at first, too. There are often little windows that can be opened, sometimes keys that can be used on locks, and doors that can be pulled. You’ll slowly discover more of the world than you started with. There are also little rooms and areas that you can go into, giving you a new scene to watch. Often you just need to look out for conversation bubbles around the entrances to find your way in.

Along with the hidden object and discovery aspects, you can also just clean things up and mess about. Picture frames can be adjusted for an achievement, you can tap all of the birds, poke all of the people – there are many kinds of small things to do. These smaller interactions bring a lot of joy to the game.
Some of the achievements come out as awards that you can place on your giant fridge where you can put the photographs that make up each of the worlds. It’s just all so well thought out and polished, creating a fantastic game.
Nippets: A Hidden Object Game is available now on itch.io and Steam.
