Neverinth has you stepping into the roles of five ancient heroines, learning about their memories as you use their powers to demolish foes.
The gods are dead, and the tree of life sends out the call to five heroines to battle through an ever-shifting, nigh-endless labyrinth to fight in the aftermath of Ragnarok. Things aren’t going great, is what I’m saying. Luckily, five powerful heroines are willing to loan you their abilities, which you can use to stomp the monsters that roam these twisting corridors.
Each of the five valkyries have unique abilities and play styles, encouraging you to pick a favorite. Not that they cannot be customized a bit more to your combat style, as you can dedicate yourself to various fallen gods and gain new powers from them as well. Plus there’s always new gear and skills to be found in this maze.
Neverinth doesn’t just focus on challenging 3D combat, offering some narrative that tells the story of each of its playable characters. You can learn more about your chosen heroine as you fight, unraveling their lost pasts as you crush foes under your heel. Or get crushed back, as the developers mention taking inspiration from the Soulsborne games. I guess the gods’ powers weren’t enough to keep them alive, so what makes you think you have a shot at surviving?
Neverinth is currently in development, but can be added to a Steam Wishlist.
