A battle-hardened hero would probably have a better chance in a hostile desert, but Aeon of Sands – The Trail casts you as a nap-loving city clerk instead.
This choose-your-own-adventure style dungeon crawler has you help Setrani, our lazy civil servant, as he is thrown out of his comfy home and into the sandy wasteland. With few friends and little personal strength to call upon, he’ll rely on you to help guide him through multiple choice decisions as bad situations pop up over and over again. Depending on which choices you make, you’ll open up new bits of story, make temporary allies or enemies, or get the poor guy killed. Mainly the latter.
Aeon of Sands – The Trail offers an array of routes for you to discover as you make your decisions, with various locations and events opening or closing depending on what you pick. If you end up in a fight based on what you choose, you’ll have to whack away at raiders, xenomorphs, and other unpleasant folks in real-time combat, so hopefully you’ve picked up a strong friend or two to help with that. You can also use magic if you choose, but it tends to be a bit damaging on the user as well as the target.
With sixty mazes and dungeons to comb through, twenty locales where your mouth can get you in trouble, and a lot of different ways to end the story (and your life), Aeon of Sands – The Trail will have you keeping this clerk’s life exciting for some time.
Aeon of Sands – The Trail is available now on Steam.
