A fighting skeleton is looking for a way out of a grim world filled with gross monsters in metroidvania After Death.
Skeletons usually don’t get up to much once they lose their handy flesh overcoats, but when word gets about about a door out of the creature-filled underworld, this bony fella wants to head on out. Able to double jump, fling fire from his lean frame, freeze things solid at a touch, or turn into a tiny set of spider bones, this skeleton has a decent shot of getting away.
You’ll need to guide After Death‘s undead protagonist through seven styles of creepy landscapes, using varied power-ups and armors you can find throughout them to keep your bone structure intact. The game’s many bosses don’t intend to let you out, so you’ll definitely want to poke around these macabre lands to get the gear you need. Although, honestly, do you just become more dead if you die as a skeleton? Or does death simply become more inconvenient with your bones all strewn about a boss room?
After Death is available for $13.99 on Steam.
