Arcane Eats is a roguelike deck builder where you’re chef looking to combo ingredients to feed the people that enter your tavern.
In this game, you have a bunch of stove tops in front of you where you can place cards to cook the food. Each of the foods that you are placing down have a specific number of turns until they will be done, along with flavor notes and a number to show how filling they are. Your customers want a lot of food, so you will need to make sure your dishes are filling. With only a few stove tops, this does mean that you are often stacking your ingredients (which might take longer to cook but will make them more hearty).

There are, of course, different cards that do not contain food but instead can make your meal tougher or can help you in various other ways, like making it more filling without needing to cook longer. The deck itself, which refreshes at the end of every turn, can be customised by purchasing other cards within the shop. There are a lot of cards to see which adds more fun to the game.
You do need to balance cooking, your customers, and your energy each round, but despite all this it doesn’t feel like this game is terribly complex. Instead, it’s quite fun to run your own restaurant, build up your family of regular customers, and then take on other cooking guilds to see who comes out on top. I got the chance to play the game at Gamescom where I did enjoy this twist on a classic roguelike! It’s something a little different but still quite fun.
Arcane Eats is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
