Assault Android Cactus+ is a dizzying dance of laser blasts, shifting arenas, and mechanical hordes, remixed for release on the Switch.
You may find yourself how many well-armed robot workers a space freighter needs once you wade into the hectic combat of Assault Android Cactus+. The game is not shy about throwing you into battle against dozens of machines firing hot lead at you, and all while the level around you changes and shifts. What once may have been a clear path might turn into a blocking wall or pit, forcing you to constantly re-evaluate your tactics. Oh yeah, and you have a limited battery you need to keep recharging with pickups.
Still, you’ve got nine neat androids who offer their own fighting styles, as well as some sharp special weapons to keep you going. You’ll be fine (probably). If not, you can always find some pals to play the game in four-player co-op. Maybe that will turn the tide?
Assault Android Cactus+ brings a lot of neat additions for those who’ve already played the game on other platforms. Campaign+ remixes the game, offering all-new challenges, you can unlock new EX options (like a first-person mode), and you can also play with a developer commentary to talk you through the design of the game. It’s pretty cool stuff on top of an already-compelling, excellent top-down shooter.
Assault Android Cactus+ is available now on the Nintendo Switch. The original Assault Android Cactus is also available on the PS4, Xbox One, Humble Store, and Steam.
I’m happy to see Witch Beam’s twin stick shoot ’em up get a revamp.
For a single-player to four-player local game, Assault Android Cactus deserves a lot of love just like Geometry Wars 3.
I’m so glad that the Nintendo Switch will finally have Assault Android Cactus+.
Hard and polished, the original was a pure gold.
I know this one will too.
Great share!
Awesome. Can’t wait for steam release.
