BitSummit, the Kyoto-based indie game showcase, is looking to bring a ton of great games from Japan and around the world into your home.
BitSummit Gaiden, the online version of the showcase, will run from June 27-28, 2020. During this time, they will feature a great deal of unique games from all over the place. Want to join a lonely girl in a ghost town (ghostpia)? Destroy buildings through pancake serving (HotCake!)? Create lo-fi beats by finding hidden instruments in a cozy room (Lo-Fi Room)? Those are just a taste of the varied experiences you can find at this year’s show.
How will you experience these games? The show is going with a threefold approach to getting games in your eyes and hands. On Discord, they’ll be hosting live dev chats and playthroughs of various games, and on Twitch, you’ll be able to watch other talks and demonstrations as well. Utomik will also be hosting a selection of games from the show from June 26 to July 11 (so feel free to hop on that service if you see something you like). There’s many different options to get engaged, and the Discord allows you to get connected with indie game fans and devs even now.
This show was a wonderful experience when we went there last year, one that saw us playing a rice-making game with a plastic bag. Saying I’m excited for more experiences like that is putting it very lightly.
