The delights of air travel are captured thoroughly in Brownie Cove Cancelled, letting you savor all the joys of your flight being delayed and taking in the glitz and glamour of an airport you would do anything to escape. You’re free to wander the place all you like as you wait for your flight to appear, taking in the seating arrangements, plant life, and fellow travelers as space and time collapse in on you, turning every second into an eternity (except that only happens when your flight is delayed in real life).
Unlike real life, there are actually some interesting things to see in the airport setting of Brownie Cove Cancelled. There’s some delightfully surreal places to explore, some silly events to take in, and some charming souvenirs to look at. You can even watch your character entertain themselves if you like, ordering them to make their own fun in passing the time, and then watching them to entertain yourself. There are deep layers at work here.
Created by the folks behind the wonderful Brownie Cove Express, Brownie Cove Cancelled is a sharp look at an interminably dull time many of us have gone through at some point. That they can make an airport seem somehow enjoyable is an impressive accomplishment, and makes me all the more excited for when their full game gets released.
And makes me dread the next time I have to hit the airport.
