With some of the potions you can acquire in Calico, you can create some giant animal friends, allowing you to ride around on cats and other creatures.
Not that potions are what the game’s all about. Your main goal is going to be making animal friends, which lets you add them to your party of cuddly creatures. After that, it’s all about petting them, dancing, feeding them, carrying them around, hanging with them, and pampering them. With raccoons, deer, dogs, foxes, and red pandas to meet alongside all of those cats, that means a lot of good times spent with adorable animals. Just be sure to watch for clues as to their personalities, as they’ll have their own likes and dislikes.
You’re also supposed to be running a cafe, if you can find time for it while meeting all of these animal buddies. You need to decorate it, set up furniture, and then pick out the sweets you want to sell (and you can decorate some of the goodies yourself for a custom touch). Once you start making money, you can use that to funnel back into the cafe to keep improving it, or spend it on stuff like potions. Considering potions are built for breaking the game’s rules in fun ways, like by making huge animals you can ride, you’ll be forgiven for buying a lot of potions.
Calico‘s animal rides seem to be quite popular, as its new crowdfunding campaign has already crushed its initial goals, has reached the goal of letting you customize your magical character, and is creeping toward letting you dress your animals. So it kind of needs to hit that last goal, all right?
Calico is currently in development, but if you wish to support its creation, you can donate to its new Kickstarter campaign (which is already smashing its funding goal).
