You’re a knight lost in a strange world, and you need to find some elemental orbs to get back home. Best get to bouncing around while stabbing heads.
Being lost, it can be a bit daunting to find your way around the lands of Cathedral. The world is wide open for you to explore, but you might not have the right tools to get to where you want to go at first. It’s up to you to figure out where you ought to be going first, then use the abilities and powers you find there to open up new paths for you to walk down.
To that end, Cathedral gives you several different mobility-based powers. You will be able to glide, dash, and more as you unlock these powers, and all of them will let you into new places that will give you further powers. Assuming your stabbing skills are solid, that is. Also, be sure to take those new powers to old places, as you might find new secret paths to other hidden goodies.
But back to that pogo stab I mentioned before. You can do a downward thrust with your sword, bouncing off of your enemy’s head. It’s a handy power that lets you keep moving, allowing you to attack while dodging around enemy attacks, which you’ll need given how many angry skeletons and other spooky monsters are lurking here. You can buy some arrows and other tools to fight with, but come on. Attacking with a pogo attack is one of life’s great joys (DuckTales and Shovel Knight can vouch for that). Why fight any other way?
Cathedral is available now on GOG and Steam.
