Time begins to stretch as the main character of Clinically Dead dies, taking you on a colorful, yet chilling journey through a surreal realm inside a mind at its end.
An unlucky soul is about to pass away, and as he does, time starts to draw out. Seconds become minutes. Minutes become hours. A final breath languishes in infinity, and in doing so drags you into a place of shimmering shades and distorted reality. It’s an uncomfortable place, and all you can do here is collect yourself so that this moment finally passes and you can find peace.
Clinically Dead tasks you with moving through space and time, shifting forwards, backwards, or stopping both temporally and physically. For you to escape this reality, you need to move carefully through time, ensuring you can escape strange presences and solve puzzles, all while watching the colors around you to know how you’re moving through time.
This vision of time grants Clinically Dead a complexity of movement, and players will have to watch where they’re going to keep from accidentally shifting time in a way they don’t want. Red zones have a high time value, while blue ones have a low value, with colors in between offering values in various ways. Time dictates occurrences in each level, so you’ll need to move carefully to force time to flow how you want, but you’ll also have to keep from having negative time, which forces you existence to restart. It’s a complex system that makes you consider your every move.
Clinically Dead is available for $14.99 on Steam.
This game looks so haunting. Like a reminder of our mortality. Gameplay-wise, it looks awesome. The voice acting is solid. Overall, it seems like a very good game.
