Cookie’s Bakery will have you following recipes to make some goodies for the kindly folks of a small town, hopefully bringing joy to their faces.
The Winter Festival is coming up in just a few days, and it’s a bit of a stressful time for everyone. Yourself included, as you’re running a bakery that needs to make some warm treats for the people in town. It’s not too hard on you and the main character, though, as this isn’t some rushed cooking arcade experience. You’re encouraged to take your time and think about what your clients are looking for, even if they’re not quite sure themselves. They aren’t demanding specific orders, but rather ask for gifts for certain people, or want to feel something from the baked delights you make them.
Once you have something picked out, you do need to poke around the kitchen a bit to find the right ingredients. It would be a shame to waste food, so don’t rush yourself too much. Making something that calms the heart while filling the belly takes time and care, after all. The result from this, and the thoughtful decision on what to make rather than following rigid orders, makes the game feel cozy and comforting. You can sense a connection between the protagonist and their customers, like you all know each other. It makes for a much lovelier cooking experience, and something more akin to baking for some local friends than hurrying through a shop’s orders.
Cookie’s Bakery is soothing look at baking for others, and the power of really listening to people when they have something to ask of you. It feels charming in the care you take with your customers, making for a welcome feeling of connection with your digital neighbors.
