Cosmic Top Secret will have you crumple, flick, and glide your paper self through a world filled with Cold War secrets and discoveries of the parents you thought you knew.
Built around real-life events, Cosmic Top Secret follows T as they look into their parents’ work as spies for Danish Intelligence during the Cold War. T will move through living memories and a breathing scrapbook world in her search for answers, finding video and audio recordings, secret dossiers, and more that will slowly unveil a side to her parents she never knew.
Cosmic Top Secret takes its papercraft visual style and puts it to work in T’s mobility, as well, T can be crumpled up and rolled around, folded up to take flight, or float on the breeze to get around. This not only gives the same a sense of physical sensation, but also a kind of intimacy and playfulness, like being able to play with paper dolls.
It’s this connection to childhood innocence and staggering discovery about one’s parents that makes Cosmic Top Secret a powerful experience. It asks us how well we truly know our parents and who they are as people, rather than just our guiding figures. Do we even know these people at all despite living with them for years? Despite such a close relationship as parent and child?
