A bleak world, seemingly empty after the apocalypse, but you’ve survived this far. In Dead Static Drive, you’re looking to survive a bit longer and take a road trip through a dying American world.
Despite the stunning visuals, this world isn’t one you want to live in for long. Most people have scattered or died when the giant bugs started appearing. Huge worms, spiders, and other creatures rule the Earth, killing and eating whatever they can find. And you are a something they can find.
So, you must keep moving, looting and gathering resources as you go. You’ll start in small town America – a place full of trailer parks, diners, and gas stations. Inside buildings, you can find food, weapons, and gasoline to fuel your car. There are also people dotted around who you can speak to and get to join your party. Climbing up buildings helps you discover even more people who might even have stashes of food they are willing to share with you.
Or, you can just kill everyone you meet for the heck of it. When playing Dead Static Drive at the Mix, I started killing off other humans. This seemed like a pretty good strategy until a giant worm destroyed my car and started attacking me.
Though this demo was pretty rough, Dead Static Drive has a lot of character and potential. I really love the visual style and the theme of the game. Going around such an empty part of America, there is a lot to discover and a lot of open land. The monsters keep the game quite scary, but I did get to kill someone just to get their hat from them.
Dead Static Drive does not have a release date, but you can follow the game’s Twitter account for more information.
