Death Coming has you acting as a brand-new reaper, causing ‘accidental’ deaths by figuring out how to best use the environment and its hazards.
You died, but with death has come a change in career instead of eternal rest. You have become a reaper, with all of the powers of death, and are meant to bring folks to their end. You have to do so without directly controlling people, as you cannot override their free will. You can knock a vase down onto someone’s head, though.
The crux of Death Coming is in figuring out the various dangerous machines, precariously-balanced objects, and other lethal mechanisms you can spring into action at the right time. However, people won’t just stand around as you drop barrels on them from above, and will act appropriately terrified should you make something awful happen near them. This can make your life more difficult, but can also be used to set up chain reactions of events that can result in many casualties.
Angels aren’t big fans of your gruesome work, though, and will patrol areas to make sure you’re not causing trouble in them. You’ll have to stay out of their sight as you end lives, which limits your options on what you can do and when. Still, with a little patience, you’ll be able to make the most out of these grim, puzzling sandboxes.
Death Coming is available now on PS4 and Steam.
