Gangs of demons have carved up the Demon World as they all aim for complete control. Except you’re going to beat them all and take control yourself in Demon Turf.
Beebz, our protagonist, is shooting to become the Demon Queen. It’s not a terribly valuable title without respect, though, which you’ll need to earn by exploring the Demon World and laying beatdowns on the other gang leaders. So, expect a lot of platforming and throwdowns. And some rapping? Beebz also seems to be an aspiring rap artist, so she’ll periodically lay down a beat about her foes and the situation. Once you’ve beaten a foe both physically and lyrically, you can come back later to their territory and see how it’s changed under your new leadership. It feels good to see your hard work paying off.
If the physics-driven combat system gets a bit hairy (although it’s fun to push and pull on foes to keep them off-balance), you can always set up a new checkpoint. The game features a checkpoint system where you decide where to set up your respawn point, rather than having to cross set goals or locations. If something seems a bit too tough, lay down a checkpoint. Feel like you’ve got something to prove? Don’t use any checkpoints at all. It’s a neat way to alter the challenge to suit you and whatever you need.
Demon Turf seems like a ridiculous action game with a goofy sense of humor. Surely you want to see what the Demon World would be like if it were ruled by a rapping demon?
Demon Turf is available now on the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Steam.
