Eastern Exorcist will have you exorcising things the hard way: using a sword to cut them down. But your actions will look very pretty!
Inspired by Chinese opera, this title will see you using fancy sword moves to cleave your way across a monster-filled countryside. Well, I guess that’s probably not the opera-inspired part. More like the emotional highs and lows that the story offers whenever you’re not doing acrobatic combos with the blade. Although I may just not be all that familiar with monster-slaying opera. Except that seems like something I’d totally be aware of if it existed.
As you’re making a bloody mess of the local forests and fields, you’ll look good due to the game’s hand-drawn combat animations. What’s the point of being an effective fighter if you can’t look good while scrapping with evil creatures, after all? And this game is looking very nice with its character designs and locales. You’ll likely want to take a few minutes just to take it all in, although you might get your noggin hacked off while you’re being inattentive. These hard-working monsters don’t want to give you much time off.
Eastern Exorcist aims to offer some solid sidescrolling action enhanced by smooth animations and beautiful backgrounds. And some stories that aim to tug at your heartstrings whenever you’re not bashing an enemy’s skull in.
Eastern Exorcist is available now on Steam.
