As a budding spellcaster, you can choose which element to study, changing the puzzles and play of Mage’s Initiation: Reign of the Elements.
D’arc is a sixteen, but has been training with the Mage Masters of Iginor for a decade. This hasn’t left him with much time for the outside world, but finally, the curious magical teen has managed to convince his masters to let him outside. All he needs to do while he’s out there is find a lock of an Enchantress’ hair, an unspoiled griffin egg shell, and the horn of a Tricorn. Shouldn’t be hard for a well-trained mage, right?
Mage’s Initiation will have you scrambling through goblin-infested woods, bandit-infested deserts, and evil-infested lakes, all in search of the items you need to pass your test. Naturally, you’ll need a few more items than that, as this is an adventure game, but you can also keep things moving with your magic and conversation. Maybe you want to blast foes with magic, or maybe you want to avoid combat. It’s up to you, if you can talk or fight your way through it.
How you fight and deal with foes is your choice as well, as Mage’s Initiation lets players choose several styles of elemental magic for D’arc. Using water, air, fire, or earth magic changes up the puzzles and solutions the game offers you, giving you multiple ways to experience the game. It’s really up to you to decide what kind of mage you want to be.
Mage’s Initiation: Reign of the Elements is available now on the Humble Store and Steam.
