CORONA BLACK follows Dominique Shade to a life of drinking, smoking, and huge mech battles.
Shade doesn’t sound like that great of a guy, honestly. Leaves his wife and daughter behind to go ‘find meaning in life.’ This leads him to Rain City, where he’ll be able to help people, lounge at the bar, cook omelettes, and tinker with COWBOY, a fighting mech. Maybe you can let his enemies punch him around a few times. A punch from a huge robot might get the guy to smarten up.
If you decide Shade’s had enough punishment and you want to fight effectively, you’ll have to juggle power and positioning in the game’s slick turn-based combat. You can choose from an array of attacks as you get yourself into position to us them. However, certain moves will knock you and your foes around, shifting your placement in combat. This, naturally, can be very handy for you, but a strong enemy can easily stick you in a bad spot with a hard punch as well. CORONA BLACK also allows you and your enemy to attack certain points on mech bodies. Kind of hard to fight with a broken head, right?
CORONA BLACK, despite its unlikeable protagonist, features an extremely likeable art style, showcasing some gorgeous black and white mechs and locales. It’s a striking world despite its slimy underbelly, and I look forward to letting Shade get taken down with style a few times when I get to try the full version.
CORONA BLACK is currently in development, but you can download a demo from Itch.io.

I find new games with mech battles worth a shot.
Corona Black has a potential.
The whole black and white theme for a Turn-Based Mech Battle game is new.
Definitely want to hear more from this game.
