A young priest may have escaped the horrors of their initial journey to a haunted home, but their waking nightmare is only growing worse in Faith: Chapter II.
Faith: Chapter II continues to use its DOS/ZX Spectrum inspirations to create chilling visuals and sounds, using distorted music and pixellated visuals to force players to draw deep from their imaginations, calling up deep-seated fears. Not that the developers are only relying on your imagination, as the smooth animations of many of the game’s unsettling creatures gives them a sickening, frightening life as well.
You may want to try the first Faith, as well as the demo of the second game (it tells a stand-alone story that helps with this new entry) in order to get yourself familiar with the monsters that await you. And how well the folks at Airdorf can create chilling atmosphere using a ‘dated’ look and audio style.
If you want to soak in a frightening atmosphere, Faith: Chapter II will happily drown you in unease. Oh, and in case you are curious: there is very little candy in that candy tunnel.
Faith: Chapter II is available now on Itch.io and GameJolt.
The gorgeous rotoscoped animation bits of FAITH: CHAPTER II gives me goosebumps.
This pixel horror indie game is also kinda creepy.
I super like the music!
I think this game used Pet Shop Boys’ “Later Tonight”?
Anyway, I love it and I’m excited!
