Why does the gloomy, monster-filled Silent Side exist? Why have you found yourself there? If you want to find out, you’ll need to make some quick partnerships with vicious monsters.
In Othercell, Adam, a cop living with the aftermath of a brutal terrorist attack, finds himself in the Silent Side along with a handful of other people he’ll meet as he explores the bleak dimension. One of those is Sofia, who claims that the world is ending, and that she needs Adam’s help to investigate it. Seeing as there’s a giant creature now floating in the sky, one that looks to be bringing a little bit of doom to the world, perhaps Adam might be inclined to believe her.
Having a handful of potential human allies in this apocalyptic scenario is great and all, but when towering, frightening monsters are lurking about, sometimes a snarky veterinarian or a successful actress don’t make for much help. You’re going to want to try to link with the monsters that you come across instead, giving you a tougher crew to get the job done with. If you see a monster you want to get chummy with, you can attempt the link ability to get them to come over to your side. It doesn’t always work, but when it does, you’ll make a valuable ally.
Many different monsters offer an array of abilities and attacks that you can use on the other creatures you stumble upon in the alleys and dark halls of Othercell. Picture Pokemon, but as if they’d all come from your nightmares, I guess. Sure, they’re creepy, but at least they’re game to help you.
Othercell is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can grab a demo from Itch.io.
