A crew of tough fighters with no personal connections might be fine in most tactical RPGs, but in Grimshade, building relationships between your warriors can be vital in a fight.
Grimshade‘s world is in a rough spot, what with the monsters making a mess of things. And the king and his loyal champions seem to have flaked off somewhere. Oh yeah, and the neighboring kingdom’s army is at your doorstep. Luckily, you can assemble a group of misfit fighters to try to handle all of this yourself.
Your crew of fighters have low chances of survival, but you have a couple of means to help strengthen your crew. For starters, your characters grow based on the equipment you put on them. Each piece of armor or weapon conveys unique skills to your warriors, so you’ll want to rotate through a variety to keep them growing stronger. Trading and crafting will be vital to getting you new equipment, but so will poking around for hidden gear lying around the world.
A team that cares about one another is tougher than one that doesn’t. As such, Grimshade encourages you to build relationships between the various thieves, heroes, and sniper badgers (yup) in your party. These connections will reshape certain story points, as well as affect their combat effectiveness. So, while a weapon is important, it’s in having a buddy at your side that you may turn the tide.
Grimshade is available now on Steam.
