FUZ is a tiny, cheerful fan adventure based on FEZ, once again having you shift a 2D world through its hidden 3rd dimensions to find secrets.
FUZ casts you out into a seemingly-straightforward 2D land, but with a few button presses, you can turn the landscape through four different sides that simulate its fleshed out, three-dimensional depth. You’re looking for missing cubes as you turn the world, and these can be hidden in some surprisingly devious ways.
This fan-made Pico-8 vision of the game isn’t quite as complex as the game that inspired it, but it can still leave you scratching your head across its eight areas. You’ll need to do all of them in one sitting, though, as the game doesn’t have a save system.
It’s honestly an impressive little homage to FEZ, and offers a pleasant excursion for those who crave more of FEZ‘s uniquely mind-crushing puzzles. Thinking in 3D space that is presented in two dimensions is a neat trick, and FUZ does a solid job capturing that challenging puzzle-solving that comes out of it.
