One hundred and eighty-five games from fifty-one different countries will fill out Gamescom’s 2020 Indie Arena Booth, offering tons of varied titles to try.
So, there’s a lot of good stuff here. 30XX will tickle you if you’ve ever enjoyed a Mega Man X game. Star Renegades will keep pushing you to come up with clever ways to defeat its cunning enemies. The Wake: Mourning Father, Mourning Mother will have your mind working hard as you explore its story of families dealing with grief. BAYANI – Fighting Game will have you exploring the history of the Philippines while playing a solid fighter. No Longer Home will have you dealing with the dreaded question of what’s next in your life. These are just a hint at the variety in play styles, stories, and experiences the show will be displaying (the full list can be found here).
You’ll be able to get a little feel of convention life as you check these games out, too. The show has developed a digital space for viewers to explore, creating and decorating their own avatars to use while checking out new titles. You can even chat with the other attendees and go to parties together. Although the music at these online parties may be quiet enough to talk comfortably, which will be new for convention life. Lord, I still miss it so much.
So, try to free up a lot of time from August 27-30, as you’re going to be able to try out a whole lot of stuff. And your feet won’t hurt at the end of the show for a change!
The 2020 Gamescom Indie Arena Booth is viewable (and playable!) online from August 27-30. For more information, you can head to the event’s site.
