Garden Galaxy is a semi-idle garden, ever-growing, surprising, and changing, that I can tinker around with between other things that I need to work at.
At the start of Garden Galaxy, you will find you have a little flame in a pot. This flame is what spawns little baby flames that hop around whatever area you create. You need to click on these flames so that they give you coins! The game starts off with basic coins that can be placed into the fire pot to spawn an item. Other different type of coins soon come, too. Some coins are shaped like leaves, which give something from a more forest- and plant-featured set, while another is shaped like water, which gives plants that go in water or water tiles to build out your garden with.
Building your garden is really relaxing and fun in Garden Galaxy. You will find yourself slowly getting tiles for the floor, little decorations, different pots for your plants, tables, and lights to place throughout your garden. It’s just a relaxing and fun experience. Sometimes, you will receive items that have specific uses. You can get different banks that you can place coins into, then break to transform these coins into different coins or a basket to hold all of your coins if you do not want to spend them. You can also take items you do not like and feed them back into the fire to slowly gain more items.
Garden Galaxy doesn’t have an end or something you are trying to complete. Instead, you are just building your garden, listening to chill music, and seeing your little baby fires hop around. You can decide to collect specific groups of things, create a veggie garden, or work on a beautiful pond. It’s really up to you – and with no actual timer or goals, I find it to be a really relaxing and fun idle game to play through, especially when it comes to leaving the game running on my secondary screen, dipping into it when I need a moment of distraction.
Garden Galaxy is available now on Steam.
