A giraffe with slippery feet is out looking for love in Giraffe Town. Judging from the look of the foggy, unsettling place, his feet may only be the start of his problems.
Giraffe Town, a new work from the developer of surreal horror title Potato Thriller, has you joining a romance-minded giraffe on a jaunt through an eerily-quiet town. This seems to be an awfully dangerous place for a giraffe who’s not too sure on his feet, too, as the ground seems to have given away in many places. It’s also pretty dark here and there, meaning you just might take a bit of a tumble.
Is falling your biggest problem, though? Looking at these bleak roads and ashen streets, it’s hard not to feel a Silent Hill vibe coming from Giraffe Town. Even the staring eyes of the giraffe give a sense of being lost in one’s own mind, seeing into worlds that should not exist. The promises of “lovely sounds, and a beautiful story” also seem to fly in the face of the game’s warnings about violence and gore.
Giraffe Town may say that it’s a charming story of a clumsy giraffe seeking romance, but something far more sinister may be lurking beneath that spotted coat.
Giraffe Town is available now for $14.99 on Steam.
