Greta Sees Ghosts! is a story-driven puzzle adventure game where you find yourself talking with charming ghosts so you can set them free.
Originally, you thought your job would just be working at the lighthouse, but it turns out it’s haunted by quirky, often silly ghosts who need help to be freed from the world. Using a small lantern to guide you, you need to wander around and talk with the ghosts, capturing them, and figuring out how they died and why they are stuck here before solving their problems. In the demo that I played at Gamescom, the first ghost that I ran into was a young boy who had jumped into the water to impress a psychic. He had lost his trunks in the jump, then stayed in the water until dying of hypothermia.

A silly way to die, sure, but he needs you to call the psychic and make sure she knows she was loved even though she has never heard of this boy and fills in a lot of the gaps. Connecting ghosts with those that they want to talk with is not the only thing you will be doing, though. You will also be solving little puzzles. In this case, it was through connecting some lanterns on the floor, creating the shape of swim trunks!
Gretta Sees Ghosts! feels like such a charming adventure game with hand-drawn visuals and funny bits of narration to go along with it. The encounters are laugh-out-loud hilarious and turning around the various pictures so that you can solve the problems of the ghosts is extremely fun. Some ghosts just need some help finishing off their job before they can leave – very relatable!
Greta Sees Ghosts! is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can grab a demo or add it to your wishlist on Steam.
