Save me Mr Tako: Tasukete Tako-San‘s fifty special hats not only make our octopus hero look sharp, but they also grant an array of combat and puzzle solving abilities.
The octopus used to rule until the humans came along, a nasty conflict kicking up between the races. When a brave octopus saves a woman from drowning, though, it sets off a chain of events that result in the eight-armed hero being able to walk on land, freeze foes into platforms with an ink blast, and wear hats for great powers. Oh yeah, and breaking the conflict that keeps humans and octopuses.
This tribute to the Game Boy, which has had us excited for a while, takes you across six varied realms, each filled with fishy foes, confounding puzzles, folks to interact with, powerful hats to be found, side quests, and charming minigames. As you delve into each area, you can savor the various palettes, as well as the sound inspired by games from the old handheld.
Save me Mr Tako: Tasukete Tako-San provides a delightful outing for lovers of Game Boy adventures, puzzle fans, and octopus fashion aficionados. And, I mean, where else are you going to get that kind of combination?
Save me Mr Tako: Tasukete Tako-San is available now on the Nintendo Switch and Steam.
This is such a good game! It’s so heartfelt and cute. Christophe did a good job of finding ways to ramp up the difficulty as you move through the worlds.
