‘He Ao Hou’ Teaches Hawaiian Traditions With a Galactic Journey

He Ao Hou: A New Home takes players to space to seek out their missing sister, and only by applying Hawaiian teachings and tradition will you find your way to her.

He Ao Hou imagines a galaxy where Hawaiian tradition has spread to the stars. Players must explore new planets and realms throughout this vision of the future, using the teachings your characters’ grandfather taught you to connect with the various people you meet along the way. Through applying these teachings and carrying them forward, you can find your missing sibling and bring them home.

He Ao Hou is a lovely journey through a universe filled with Hawaiian stories and folklore (and can even be played in the Hawaiian language), offering a glimpse into the culture through a sci-fi lens.

He Ao Hou is available for free from the game’s site. It is also on display at the iNdigital Space at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto from October 18-21, 2018.
