Hellgineers sees you trying to stay within your budget while planning out bridge structures so demons can cross lava pits. It usually goes poorly.
Demons are out to take some relaxing bike rides today. Hey, demons need a break from all the torturing and stuff, too. It’s not fair to ask them to watch those acid pits and burning lakes without some sort of down time. Anyway, seeing as hell has not invested a ton of money into its roads and bike trails, you need to help them. This means building some bridges across lava pits so that the demons can get across. As to whether they get across entirely safely, that’s not terribly important. So long as they get to the other side, even if it’s a bit of a bumpy, scary ride, you’re all good.
For you, this means that you need to draw in the sections of bridge that you want to use. From there, you’ll have to connect some supports so that the bridge can handle the weight and movements of your demonic riders. Also, I wasn’t joking about the funding for these bridges, either. You have a given budget for the bridge you’re building, and you really want to be under or close to that budget to be successful. Working within that funding is where things can get dicey, and you’ll often have to get creative with your builds. Doubly so if you want your demons to grab the collectible skulls while they ride across. Did I mention that hell’s other denizens like to blow up your structures, too? It’s a lot to factor in, but it would mean the world to these demons to take a calming bike ride.
Hellgineers has a light and fun theme with its hellish rides, but is an intriguing puzzle game about creating bridges with limited tools. You can come up with some neat stuff if you get creative with what you have on-hand, which is where the game really shines. You don’t need to drive all the way across if you can just jump the pit, after all.
