ILA: A Frosty Glide is a stunning, whimsical open-world game where you play as a witch who (sort of) skateboards around the world!
In this game, you’ll be playing with a witch’s take on skateboarding by riding on your broom (well, your skatebroom, as it’s called) throughout a vast world. It looks so much cooler to stand up while riding on a flying broom than to sit down, after all. The lands you explore are made of voxels, which just feels so fitting to hold all of the little details and movements as you ride through these snowy landscapes.
In ILA: A Frosty Glide, there isn’t much direction. You can just start exploring and figuring out how to best use your magic. Your broom acts almost like a skateboard, allowing you to glide through the air, smash into snowy walls, and then bounce off of them. It’s fun moving to greater heights!
There are different coins that you can collect scattered throughout the world. You can spend these on things to customise your witch or on new broom features in the nearby shop. There are also chests that you can bounce near to open up and mushrooms that you can use to jump higher.
Most of my time in ILA: A Frosty Glide was just spent exploring – walking around the winter scene, collecting money, and trying to find my way up the side of mountains. Discovering different areas felt fun and rewarding. Flying around feels smooth.
I got to play a demo of the game at Indie Dev Day that had me wanting more from the game. I can really see myself sinking time into using my magic to discover secrets and striking places.
ILA: A Frosty Glide is currently in development (with a Kickstarter campaign due to start some time in the future), but in the meantime, you can grab a demo and add it to your Steam Wishlist.
