Virgo, Queen of Purity, aims to bring back the Golden Age the hard way, battling the other zodiac signs to enforce her sinister worldview in turn-based JRPG Virgo Vs the Zodiac.
While cosmic alpaca mounts and cute gingerbread henchmen give the proceedings a pleasantly adorable look (along with many other aspects of Virgo Vs the Zodiac‘s charming art style), don’t expect it to be easy to be the villain. Inspired by the Mario & Luigi series, the game features real-time move execution during its turn-based combat. You’ll need to land each blow yourself, counter every enemy attack, and keep yourself defended from your foes lest your sinister plan be thwarted. Each fight is specifically designed to crush you, too, so never go into combat lightly.
Planning ahead can be a huge help in surviving Virgo Vs the Zodiac’s ruthless, mandatory battles. All skills in the game can be countered through equippable counter skills, so after getting thumped once or twice, you may wish to reassess what things you’ve equipped Virgo with. Then again, you can also try to spare some of these opponents through choices you make, which can take some fighting pressure off. This also has an effect on the story, what with you suddenly become an antagonist with a heart of gold and all.
The newest trailer for Virgo Vs the Zodiac shows this exciting combat in action, letting you get a taste of its challenges as well as the game’s endearing style. I mean, have you ever been decimated by characters who were just so dang cute before?
Virgo Vs the Zodiac can be wishlisted on Steam, and is currently slated for release on Dec 4, 2018.
