Just in Crime is a puzzle game where you play both a detective dog and a wizard cat using time travel to solve a few mysteries.
I am a huge fan of cosy and cute style games, so this really caught my interest when I played a demo at BCN Game Fest. The cute animals protagonists are more than just adoarble, though. The detective dog is able to take thoughts and string them together to make conclusions that can be presented to various characters in the game, progressing the story. The wizard cat, on the other hand, can go back in time by a few seconds to investigate what’s happened in the past, which can come in handy when solving any mystery.

These two mechanics feel so well designed and refreshing. I really liked combining ideas and seeing what conclusions I could come up with – especially after using the cat to find out some more facts about the case. The cat is playful, andsilly and the dog is very serious and straight to the point, making them a fantastic pair.
All of the characters in Just in Crime have their own personalities and dialogue that makes interacting with everyone a lot of fun. There is a bully who probably did the crime…but maybe they didn’t! There is also a shy chef who is just so upset that he worked so hard on a birthday cake that has been fully eaten without him having a slice and a few other characters that just add to the story.
Just in Crime feels like a joyful, well-crafted detective game that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Even the cat, who isn’t the best wizard, finds themselves to be perfect just the way they are. It’s a fun little crime game that feels perfect for all ages, especially if you like cozy games. You can also ditch the entire story and just play with the claw machine or pool table if you’d like.
Just in Crime is currently in development, but in the meantime you can grab a demo and add it to your wishlist on Steam.
