You’re a coat filled with rats just trying to pass as human in Keep It Together, and your conversational skills (and keyboard acrobat abilities) will be sorely tested to keep up the charade.
Being human means making small talk with the folks you meet and interact with. It’s a simple fact of life no matter how much you hate it. So, when you’re a coat filled with vermin who wants to seem human, you’re going to be stuck having conversations with people. Keep It Together throws these poor rodents into the mine field that is human conversation, having you choose whatever dialogue options you think are right to keep the chat flowing.
Talking with people, as always, comes with that fun danger where you might say the wrong thing and upset them. When you do this in Keep It Together, you start to build up stress. Once your stress fills up, you’ll have to hold certain keys on your keyboard. These keys have been chosen to force you to wrap your fingers up, Twister-style, ensuring keeping it together (heh) in a bad conversation is as uncomfortable as possible. Fail that, and it’s raining rats and your cover is blown.
Keep It Together uses its absurd, silly premise to examine social anxiety, letting you experience how stressful everyday conversation can be for some. It’s both extremely funny and incredibly effective at making the condition more approachable for those who might not understand what it feels like.
Keep It Together is available for $5 on Itch.io.
