Kemono Heroes is a wonderful arcade platformer where you and up to three of your friends become animal ninjas in order to take on the moon god.
Up to four players all embark on a journey through various areas, finding different weapons and upgrades along the way. There are four different characters to play as, each with unique abilities that you can then control. At Pocker Gamer Connects London, I took the role of the Fox, transforming into the enemies that I hit. Alongside me was a monkey, grappling onto trees and moving above the enemies on the ground.
There are a few different ways to attack various enemies – a ranged throwing spear and a close up swiping mechanic, allowing you to hit things near you. As enemies populate the screen, from both in front of and behind you, you will need to take them out. They die in blasts of coins and healing food. Moving forward is key in Kemono Heroes, as more monsters just keep appearing, really filling up the screen. At the end of some levels, you will need to face challenging bosses, working to slowly bring them down!
Along with some really fun gameplay, a large variety of monsters, and unique abilities, Kemono Heroes also showcases beautiful pixel graphic art that’s hard to not continue looking at!
Kemono Heroes doesn’t currently have a launch date set, but you can sign up for the newsletter on their website.
