Can you imagine getting two birds to type out distress messages using a number of devices that are dotted around a large area? Sound wild? Well, in KeyWe, you get to take on this challenge.
I got my hands on a few rounds of KeyWe at EGX and had a lovely time with it, and am excited to try out the game with my whole family. Hopefully we are able to work well together! It’s a multiplayer cooperative game where you and your friend race around the screen, trying to work together to type out a message before the timer ticks away. Some typing requires both of you to press buttons – like when you need to use a capital letter – while other bits of typing, like individual letters, can be done by just one of you. Either way, you are both running around the screen, looking to complete the silly messages that come up on the screen.
Often, these messages don’t really say anything important, but reading them isn’t really the goal. It’s more about jumping around to find the letters, quickly getting to them and shouting out to your partner that you will do a letter and they should get the next letter, etc. There is a lot of yelling and a lot of communication if you don’t want to find yourself backspacing letters and restarting entire words. The world in KeyWe is a fun one, as it takes place on a massive desk with letter keys speckled around everywhere. Very unlike a keyboard where you probably know where all the letters are.
The birds in KeyWe are also fully customisable, giving you different skins and hats, which are quite a delight to explore and unlock. The game itself feels polished – one of those straightforward, yet fun games to play together with your family. An experience full of chaos and delight to be had as you play around with it.
KeyWe is available now on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam.
