Luckslinger has you gunning your way through the Old West, collecting luck from fallen foes that will save you from your screw-ups. Or cause extra ones.
A band of outlaws have stolen Clovercreek’s luck bracelets (while also stealing most of everything else), granting them the ability to dodge trouble with relative ease. You’ve got one, too, so you’re the best bet at stopping them. These trinkets only work if they’re topped up with the luck of fallen people, so you’d best start blasting your way through the dusty trails and gloomy mines around the city if you’re going to have a chance of winning.
Luck is always a hot commodity throughout this game, which we saw when we played the original release ages ago. If you’re topped up on luck, then enemy shots will drop harmlessly to the ground when they’re about to hit you. Attacks falter. You can even have extra routes through stages open up to you. Inversely, if your luck is lousy, extra traps might spring and other nuisances may appear. Life’s hard enough when you need to reload every six shots while gang members try to gun you down or blow you up, so you’ll need to keep that luck bar high without getting taken out. Otherwise, you’re relying on your throwing knife and your duck pal.
Luckslinger is a sharp, but challenging action game for the unlucky (and even so if you ARE lucky), and one filled with some great hip-hop infused Western tunes.
Luckslinger is available now on the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam.
