You’re supposed to be making some deliveries to crypts filled with dangerous monsters and spirits. Not exactly a safe line of work, but someone needs to do it in Courier of the Crypts.
Skulking around crypts and burial grounds isn’t safe at the best of times, but it’s really, really dangerous when it’s dark. Good thing you brought a magic torch. Bad thing that the magic doesn’t keep it lit permanently. It’s a finite resource, so you’ll want to keep it off if you don’t really need it, but having it lit will also reveal your path, as well as make certain secrets appear. Then again, it also lures certain enemies, and others will try to snuff it out, so expect to constantly turn it on and off to stay alive.
If your torch ever runs out fully, you’re in big trouble. Sure, you can technically stumble around in the dark, but shadow beings will come creeping for you should your torch run out of fuel. You can pick up more fuel throughout the catacombs as you explore, so long as you don’t get distracted by shiny things. Or monstrous things. The latter can be pretty distracting, I’ll tell you.
While worrying about your torch, you’ll also need to work your way through the maze-like environments of Courier of the Crypts. The way down is complicated, filled with puzzles and secrets you can find by checking mechanisms and objects, as well as solving riddles, so don’t expect an easy walk. Still, if you can keep a light on and dodge the beasties in the dark, you’ll find it’s a very fulfilling journey.
Really hope this delivery is worth it to someone.
Courier of the Crypts is available now on the Humble Store, Itch.io, and Steam.
