Despotism 3k puts you to work as an AI overlord, one who needs to keep a handful of machines running to ensure the power stays on, extracting it from the efforts of the humans. You need to put humans in the right machines to keep them running, ensuring that each has a supply of people keeping it operating smoothly.
Thing is, humans get run down, hungry, and tired. Machines need to be built to keep them fed, rested, and to breed new humans for when the last set gets too old. Not that you can’t joust dump the useless ones into another machine to be broken down into a more useful form. You can also shuffle humans from machine to machine to make sure you’re getting the most from their efforts, so you need to keep a close eye on all of your devices to make sure you’re getting the most from your workers.
Despotism 3k already gives you a great deal to juggle just in dealing with these fast-moving devices, but you’ll also have to deal with strange events like mutant babies, power surges, and cosmic horrors showing up. Any of these can mean a quick failure on top of the danger of messing up your factory with a few foolish decisions, creating a tense atmosphere while you manage this cruel place.
