Maze Mice needs you to stay ahead of some frantic, relentless cats. Thankfully you can take a break whenever you need to.
Mice just don’t get along with cats. I mean, it kind just happens whenever something is determined to eat you. This mouse is equipped with some handy weaponry to make the cats regret chasing them around, though. The only trouble is that there are A LOT of cats out to get you, so you’ll need to make the most of your tools and your time.

The combat system bears some fun similarities to Vampire Survivor with some neat weapon pickups that you can steadily upgrade over time into some truly nasty offensive powers. Leaving a trail of fire in your wake is incredibly useful when your enemies spend most of their time chasing after you down narrow paths. Still, being able to set off close-range explosions, fling sharp objects, and damage everyone on-screen with a gross hairball gives you a lot of neat tools to defeat your feline enemies. The most useful thing you can do, though, is stop time by doing nothing. The game only moves when you do, and while the quick pace of play often made me forget I could do that, it’s an incredibly useful ability that will let you plan your path through the tight mazes and ever-encroaching enemies.
Maze Mice is hard to put down once you get into the groove of its play. Having to navigate narrow maze passages while tracking the trajectories of the cats that are closing in makes every narrow escape feel thrilling. Plus, if you find the pace is a bit too much (or you just need a minute to think), you can just stop in your tracks and figure out what you want to do.
Maze Mice is available now on itch.io and Steam.
