One to four players will make ridiculous decisions and deal with high school drama as they work to woo their favorite creature in this competitive dating sim.
Monster Prom aims to capture the modern world of high school dating, just with a bit of a monstrous twist. In a world of selfies and selkies (note: there are no selkies, but the play on words was too good not to use.), you’ll choose from one of six beautiful creatures to go after. If both you and another player have feelings for the same ghost or medusa, though, expect to throw down against one another.
Impressing your chosen date won’t be the same every time, either, as Monster Prom features hundreds of randomized events to deal with, from school plays to impromptu raves, that will make the road to love a rocky one. Events in the game will play out into one another in various ways, leading to many, many different stories by the game’s end. Your character’s stats, determined by quizzes at the game’s start, also affect these events, so you’ll need to work to your strengths to catch the eye of that dreamy werewolf.
Like school itself, Monster Prom absurd life situations work well when shared with friends, even if you both love the same vampire. Also, with a modern look on romance featuring dating apps, lewd pictures to be sent, and languishing over outfits, it offers a lighthearted look at dating that many can likely appreciate even if prom was a long, long time ago.
Monster Prom is available for $11.99 on Steam.
