Monster Sanctuary lets you make friends with all manner of tough critters, having them help you in combat or exploration as you fulfill your duties as a monster keeper.
Monster Sanctuary will have players working their way through a sprawling world filled with creatures to fight and join up with. You’re free to tame any creature you run into in the wild, or you can also use your party of monsters to thump them over the head to keep moving forward. Each of these creatures is deeply customizable with complex skill trees, or shifted to light or dark versions that alter their stats, though, so getting multiple copies of the same creature has some benefits.
To assemble an effective team of monster fighters, you’ll need to think about how everyone works together in Monster Sanctuary. The RPG utilizes a combo system where the number of hits you land or buffs you use during a turn adds to a meter that increases your damage output. It encourages you to get monsters that can really line up the hits (or heals), using them to ramp up the hurt. If you can do well in fights, you also gain better items and monster eggs for new creatures, so you’ll want to learn this system well.
Monsters aren’t just for smacking creatures around, though. Monster Sanctuary‘s various beasts also offer exploration abilities, such as the ability to fly or burn down nuisance vines, opening up more of the open world depending on which you choose to help you out. With goodies and new routes hidden down these new paths, your choice of pals can offer all kinds of useful ends.
Isn’t it about time you started making some more monster buddies?
A Kickstarter campaign is currently underway for Monster Sanctuary. Players can also try out a demo of the game on GameJolt and Steam.
