You can bust the heads of thieves in your shop or monsters keeping your from salable dungeon goods anywhere you like with the Switch release of Moonlighter.
Moonlighter tasks the player with opening and running a shop. To keep that shop stocked up (and because our shopkeep dreams of being a hero more than being a retail grunt), you’ll need to head out into an array of dangerous dungeons, choosing from an array of weapons and fighting styles to use against the creatures you find within. If you live, you’ll likely bring home some high-priced goodies to sell. If you don’t, your shop may be a little bare-bones for a while.
Just because you’re good at fighting creatures doesn’t mean you know anything about running a store, though. You have to use shopper reactions to gauge whether you’re under- or over-charging, slowly finding the best price for your goods. You did almost die for these things, so you don’t want to be giving them away, right?
Moonlighter offers adventures in salesmanship and monster-thumping, as well as some good times to be had with fellow townsfolk, and some tinkering with crafting and enchanting. We quite enjoyed it the last time we checked it out, and it’s even more appealing to be able to take it on the road.
Moonlighter is available now on the Nintendo Switch, the Humble Store, Steam, PS4, and Xbox One.
